Nico Smith is a self-taught photographer, from Chelmsford. At 27 years old, he has been practising photography for 5 years and is extremely passionate about his work. His initial interest in the photography world was street photography. Nico began being heavily influenced by Bruce Gilden but found that the more he practised street photography, the less comfortable he became with getting up close and personal with strangers. His focus shifted more towards portraits and the idea of almost ‘making’ a photo, rather than just taking one. His current work is influenced by the work of Gregory Crewdson.
